Position Description

Intern Opportunity for Spring/Summer 2015 or Summer/Fall 2015.

Master's level student currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering program with a 3.5 GPA or higher. This is a full time Intern opportunity working 40 hours a week.

A Intern engineering opportunity in the Research and Development department. Candidate will be involved in the development, evaluation, and support of powered surgical instruments used in a neurosurgical environment.

Position Responsibilities

Job responsibilities may include:

o Development and implementation of design changes to existing surgical equipment

o Development and execution of bench tests for prototype performance characterization

o Engineering drawing creation and review

o Preparation and execution of engineering change orders

o Formal protocol development, review, and execution

o Participation in design and process FMEAs; (Failure Mode Effects Analysis)

o Documentation updates to product design history files

o Design engineering support to production (as required)

o Project schedule creation and maintenance

o Development and qualification of test methods and equipment for product characterization and design verification

o Participate in technical design reviews

o Other assignments as assigned by supervisor.

Basic Qualifications

Master's level student currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering program with a 3.5 GPA or higher.

An understanding of the design of mechanical components & assemblies.

An understanding of electromechanical concepts & their applications.

A basic understanding of statistical methods.

MS Office proficiency

CAD experience, Pro-E preferred

Must be able to work full time Spring-Summer 2015 or Summer-Fall 2015.
