Position dedicated to providing writing, planning and general communications support within the UnitedHealth Group Corporate Communications department. The Writer will work very closely with both internal and external cross-enterprise teams to write plans, manage and support brand and reputation campaigns and develop integrated communications programs. 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Develop and assist in writing public relations plans

  • Write and assist in writing comprehensive, enterprise-wide program communications plans

  • Assist in implementation of enterprise-level brand and reputation programs, including advertising

  • Serve as a resource for company-wide information and provide content and connection when developing programs

  • Provide strategic counsel to senior executives and business leads

  • Develop clear and concise messaging

  • Direct and/or produce results reports

  • Write and assist with articles for internal and external publications, speeches, testimonies, press releases, Q&As, backgrounders, key messages and talking points

  • Develop plans and create opportunities to communicate with and build relationships with key stakeholders as needed

  • Participate actively in the Corporate Communications department meetings

  • Embody and promote UHG corporate values and ethics

  • Maintain current knowledge, industry expertise specifically on financial issues in the health care space and monitor competitor trends and activities

  • Working with department leadership, develop metrics for measuring communications effectiveness and balance

  • Able to guide proactive communications efforts

  • Manage and support brand and reputation campaigns and programs

  • Able to coordinate large programs

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • 8+ years' experience in strategic communications with excellent writing and editorial skills

  • Experience implementing brand support, reputation enhancement, day-to-day public/media relations support and internal employee communications campaigns

  • Experience producing strategic communications plans to support the goals of the organization

  • Proven organizational skills

  • Ability to provide strategic counsel

  • Ability to offer constructive feedback to improve communications

  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with internal and external partners

  • Work collaboratively across business segments

  • Understanding of consumer outreach tactics

  • Familiar with advertising, public service and reputation campaigns

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization

  • Experience developing and implementing multi-faceted programs

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree

  • Healthcare experience
