The Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut, owners and operators of the highly successful Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, Mohegan Sun Casino at Pocono Downs in Pennsylvania, and Resorts Casino in New Jersey has expanded their business diversification strategy. One such area of focus is the development of food and beverage restaurant franchises. They have entered into a multi-unit development agreement with Smashburger, a rapidly growing and award winning “better burger" franchise, to open 16 Smashburger franchises in various counties in CT, MA, and all of RI. This agreement offers significant career growth potential for dedicated and motivated employees who want to be part of the Mohegan Smashburger restaurant team. The position below represents a position in the first Mohegan owned Smashburger franchise which is planned to open in Waterford, CT in late November. The successful candidate will become part of the Mohegan Smashburger team in mid-October.

About Smashburger

Smashburger was named 'America's Most Promising Company' by Forbes magazine in both 2011 & 2013. We are looking for a general manager to help us grow our better burger concept. This position represents a position in the first Mohegan owned Smashburger franchise which is planned to open in Waterford, CT in late November. The successful candidate will become part of the Mohegan Smashburger team in mid-October.

Summary of Position:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager in the operation of the restaurant, with a major focus on leading and developing a team of employees in effectively performing their daily tasks while maintaining high standards for food, service, and health and safety.

Essential Duties:

  • Under supervision of the General Manager, ensures that all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs are followed, including alcohol awareness. Also assists with implementation according to the franchisor’s guidelines (Smashburger) and the standards set by the parent company (Mohegan Holdings LLC).
  • Assists with local marketing efforts to build sales to meet, and strive to exceed, goals.
  • Assumes the responsibilities of the General Manager when needed to ensure management continuity.
  • Assists with personnel recruiting, training and conducting performance appraisals for the entire team. Ensures that each employee has completed and signed the required paperwork as detailed in the employee policy manual.
  • Ensures that guests are served in a courteous, timely manner to maintain customer satisfaction and public image.
  • Maintains high food quality and attractive food appearance, made according to Smashburger product specifications, to meet sales and cost control objectives.
  • Assists in maintaining proper sanitation and cleanliness in accordance with state and any other health requirements, and maintains Smashburger’s standards. Trains employees on safety standards and corrects any transgressions.
  • Assists in ordering inventory on a timely basis to ensure an adequate supply, but not overabundance, of products.
  • Assists in maintaining records including daily sales and cash analysis, daily volume and product purchase reports and other reports as requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Ability to work in a team-focused environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of high-volume restaurant supervisory experience, including some experience in a quick service or fast casual dining environment
  • Experience with revenue and expense accounts and impact on store profitability

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in and out of different temperature ranges, stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
  • ServSafe certified
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence to travel as required
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Ability to travel and complete the paid management training program per franchise agreement
