Manages, oversees and coordinates all corporate communications, monitors performance of the networks and reports status. Identifies deviations from agreed service level agreements (SLA/SLO) and recommends corrective action.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to computers, printers and copiers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

Positions in this function coordinate the processes and activities that focus on restoring service after an incident occurs. Monitors environment health and the facilitation of high severity incidents to improve the state of service availability and continuity. This function also includes those who operate and monitor computer and peripheral equipment. Coordinates the efforts of all functions to complete scheduled jobs in a timely manner. Documents all problems (hardware, application, facility, etc.) and takes corrective action as required. Interfaces with other departments as required.

 

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Set up and implement standards for computer operations and use software support tools, database administration, system data backups, performance tuning and security.

  • Provides system support to the activities and resources required to provide quality computer operations processing and application system resource management and availability.

  • Coordinate system security, file system rights, login scripts.

  • Install, maintain, and ensure availability for all systems in a datacenter.

  • Provide remote support for several remote locations.

  • Performs advanced trouble-shooting for network hardware, software problems and troubleshooting activities to isolate and diagnose common network problems.

  • Ensure corporate release levels are adhered to, perform testing and troubleshooting

  • Audit and maintain security levels consistent with the Security Policies. This may include developing and implementing policies, performing intrusion testing, identifying & correcting security vulnerabilities and implement security related software.

  • Enhance existing and recommend new technologies to improve company efficiency and quality.

  • Provide technical assistance to all staff.

  • Able to work with software and systems administration including communication hardware designed to maintain networks.

  • Creates detailed Change Management documentation and implements well-thought-out changes to production systems.

  • Mentors junior administrators in Change Management processes and disciplines.

  • Lead implementation of systems into production.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Reviews the work of others.

  • Serves as a leader/ mentor.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree OR High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of technical experience

  • 2+ years of in-depth knowledge and working experience with Microsoft operating systems including Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 – understand group policies, and Active Directory, troubleshooting Active Directory issues

  • 2+ years of experience with a combination of the following: installation, support, maintenance, patching, upgrades, configuration, archiving, and backup of server hardware, operating system, software and utilities 

  • 2+ years of working experience/understanding with at least one of the following storage technologies including SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fiber 

  • 2+ years of in-depth knowledge and working experience with VMware including: P2V, HA, and DRS 

  • 2+ years of working experience with Microsoft Exchange

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Working experience with both LAN and WAN technologies 

  • Working experience with Symantec Backup Exec including version 2010 R3 

  • Experience recommending upgrades, patches, firmware and new applications and equipment 

  • Current MSCE certification a plus 

  • Experience with computing environments connected to the Internet and understand the associated security implications 

  • Previous experience with project leadership within a enterprise environment
