Bartender

Primary Accountability: The primary responsibility of the Bartender position is to courteously and efficiently prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guests, ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel’s standards and assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests. 

Major Duties:

• Outstanding customer service – anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests even when busy
• Hold complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, wine and champagne by the glass, major wines on the wine list, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet
• Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list
• Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink
• Retain knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price ranges and dress code of assigned outlet
• Maintain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies
• Direct and assist Bar Backs and Cocktail Servers in their job functions to ensure smooth and efficient service to guests
• Inventory and document on requisition forms all empty bottles and attach transfer slips/spill reports to be placed in Manager’s office
• Understand proper maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended
• Exercise good judgment in determining potentially intoxicated guests
• Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures
• Complete opening and closing side duties as needed
• Maintain security of bar area and display knowledge of safe operation of bar equipment while maintaining the level of safety required and exhibited by OSHA requirements
• Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
• Treat work area, tools used to complete the duties of the position and the entire facility with respect
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum 21 years old
• Meet Alcohol & Beverage Control minimum registration requirements
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Compute basic mathematical calculations
• Think clearly, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment
• Display strong attention to detail

Physical Demands:

• Requires constant standing or walking
• Occasionally requires climbing stairs, pushing/pulling racks with product weighing 5-100 pounds, and rarely could weigh up to 200 pounds
• Frequent crouching/stooping; reaching for, handling or grasping objects or supplies or lifting/carrying supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
• Sitting will be required rarely
• Safety requirements: Adhere to company, property and department safety standards and procedures. Safety shoes, proper guards, proper lifting techniques, all safety procedures must be followed
• Exposures: Changing temperatures (72-110 degrees F), slippery floors, noise and vibrations
