About this job

The Member Services Representative is the initial point of contact for plan members, providers, and plan personnel, and the public at large. The incumbent must possess exceptional public relations/customer service skills and be able to communicate with members and providers in an effective manner. Primary responsibilities are to identify the needs of the caller and execute a plan to meet the needs for member eligibility, plan coverage, provider information, enrollment information, explanation of benefits, claims inquiries and general insurance questions.

The ideal candidate for this role is one who enjoys a fast-paced, team-oriented, and goal driven work environment. You must be a strong communicator, respectful and professional in your telephone demeanor, and be an attentive listener in order to resolve customer issues effectively and efficiently.

Minimum Requirements:

1. High School diploma or equivalent

2. At least 1 year of customer service experience

Preferred experience/skills:

1. Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's degree in Communication, Business, Healthcare Administration, or liberal arts OR equivalent work combination of coursework and experience in a service industry highly desired.

2. Technical Certificate in medical billing/coding, Medical Assisting, and/or medical terminology.

3. Multiple years of customer service experience in a medical specialty practice or other healthcare related occupation with transferable skills.

Familiarity with the health insurance industry and claims experience
