A Market District Baker's first responsibility is to produce quality bakery products to ensure customer requirements are met and build customer loyalty by providing unparalleled customer service.

  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, floor (to ensure safety), and sanitation regulations are met.
  • Understands all the ingredients and purpose of each used in manufacturing scratch baked goods.
  • Understands the complete Artisan bread and roll process starting with the individual ingredients, mixing, fermentation, molding/forming, proofing and baking.
  • Review production schedule to determine product requirements, including variety and quantity of baked goods for preparation and assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily baking activities.
  • Weighs and scales ingredients, mixes ingredients, deposits batters or dough, make up or molds dough or batters, proofing of yeast baked goods and baking using a full range of baking methods; checking and testing bake goods for a quality finish bake.
  • Finishes and displays baked breads, rolls, muffins, pies, Danish, cakes, cookies, Sweet Dough, bagels puff pastry, croissants, basic cakes and replenishes service lines as necessary.
  • Prepare icings, custards or fillings for decorator production and counter finishing.
  • Maintain a safe working environment with the highest regard for co-workers and customers.
  • Responsible for controlling some expense within a department.
