Medical Lab Technicain ASCP- PRN
Responsible for receiving blood specimens, performing blood tests and studies the morphology of the components of blood. In addition to blood specimens, receives patient specimens of urine, spinal fluid, gastric fluid and others. Documents all test results correctly. Responsible for maintaining and using various equipment in the laboratory; automated chemistry analyzers, ion-specific electrode, osmometer, and other analyzers safely and correctly. Follows standard precautions at all times. Immediately notifies the nursing unit or physician of any critical test results. Perform other duties as assigned.
This position will be assigned regularly scheduled shifts which will likely include working every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). In addition, this position will be given the opportunity to sign up for open shifts as needs in the various laboratory areas arise. A willingness to work weekend shifts (both Saturday and Sunday) and in any given area of the lab is a must.
Bachelor Clinical Laboratory Science
ASCP or equivalent Certification eligible required.
Skills:
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Good verbal and written skills required.
Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills required.
Operates the following equipment correctly and safely: Cell dyn 3500, Sysmex CA 1000, Slide stainer, Centrifuge, Criterion.
