Job Description
- The dish and general utility position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, using the dish machine and manual cleaning methods.
Essential Functions:
As a Dishwasher, your job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware, and other cooking utensils and place them in dish racks to send through the dish machine.
- Sort and stack clean dishes, transport clean dishes to cook’s line and other proper storage areas.
- Washes pots and pans by hand in 3-compartment sink following the correct order of wash, rinse & sanitize.
- Set-up and break-down dishwashing area properly, thoroughly cleaning the dish machine.
- Properly clean the dish machine following the proper procedure.
- Sweep & kitchen floors throughout the shift.
- Sweep debris & trash around exterior of restaurant.
- Dispose of the trash in the dumpster.
- Place recyclables in appropriate recycling container.
- Run trash & recyclables.
- Break down boxes.
- Maintain cleanliness of the back dock.
- Maintains cleanliness in all areas of the restaurant as needed.
- Other duties might include, but are not limited to: prep, meat grinding, onion ring breading, cutting half-sours, etc.
- Notifies a Manager immediately if a Guest is injured or has a complaint.
- All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:
Special Skills or knowledge necessary for this position:
- Full-Service Restaurant Dishwashing Experience is desired.

- Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor during periods of uncertainty or crisis.
Essential Physical Requirements:
Daily physical requirements and/or number of pounds that may need to be lifted on the job:
- Lift and carry racks or stacks of dishes, glassware, and other utensils weighing up to 30 lbs. (up to 50 times per shift).
- Lift and empty trash cans weighing up to 100 lbs., with assistance (up to 20 times per shift).
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and lifting.
- Work indoors 90%, outdoors 10%.
- Must be able to read and fully understand labels on chemicals.
- Hazards include, but are not limited to, cuts from broken glass, knife handling, metal cans, burns, slipping and tripping.
- Frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity and extreme cold.
