Job Summary The University of Michigan-Dearborn has a temporary opening within The College of Education, Health, and Human Services Office of Student Success (OSS) to start as soon as possible and work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 am ? 5 pm for 3 months. The individual selected will assist in performing various duties supporting OSS including:
- Assist Administrative Specialist in documenting and organizing access to OSS processes and procedures
- Assist in creating and processing staff and faculty personnel actions
- Assist in preparing paperwork for new faculty and lecturer appointments, appointment changes, leaves of absence, sabbaticals, and contracts
- Assist the department Chair with correspondence and reports
- Arrange and schedule meetings
- May attend department meetings to take meeting notes and minutes for proofreading and distribution
- Help maintain and support instructional equipment, overhead sheets and folders
- Help resolve classroom, facility and building issues
-Assist in collecting and maintaining statistical data and reports
- Field incoming calls and emails/electronic communication from students, faculty and staff.
-Resolve routine questions and problems and refer more complex issues.
- Perform other departmental duties as required
Required Qualifications* Two or more years office experience.
- Exceptional customer service, dependability and professional office conduct
- Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated successful ability to exercise judgment and appropriately handle confidential or sensitive issues
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must have some experience with PeopleSoft systems, i.e., personnel action requests, hiring, procurement/purchasing.
- Experience with Gmail/Google Calendar
Additional Information This position reports to the Associate Dean, and will also receive functional supervision from the Department Chairs and other members of the OSS staff.
