Primary Responsibilities:



  • Responsibility for oversight and leadership of a team of clinical pharmacists of the Prior Authorization unit aligned with the Customer Service dept. of OptumRx

  • Coordinate, supervise and have accountability for the site pharmacist operations as well as daily activities and performance of team (15-20 direct reports)

  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the team to ensure quality, productivity, and regulatory/contractual goals and requirements are met

  • This individual will work to provide a positive work environment and achieve creativity and teamwork among employees

  • Set team direction, resolves problems and provides guidance to team. Ensure policy and procedures are appropriately followed. Identifies and communicates improvement opportunities and reports to the department director

  • Participate and provide representation in inter-departmental meetings and workgroups with the Clinical Services & Client Services teams of OptumRx to ensure Prior Authorization department issues and needs are addressed

  • Participate in quality improvement and process enhancement projects as assigned by management


Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license

  • 3 years experience as practicing pharmacist

  • 1+ year leading tasks, project or staff

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Managed care or PBM experience

  • Experience operationalizing medication clinical guidelines and/or plan benefits

  • PharmD degree
