About this job

I. Position Summary: . Maintains medical record by preparing, creating, assembling, and refiling in appropriate location. Maintains medical record chart order. Searches and investigates information contained in medical record to assure that content is complete and accurate. Responsible for assisting customers via phone and walk ins. Provides medical records to requestors based on "need to know" following federal and state laws as well as corportae guidelines. Performs related clerical duties including photocopying, sorting and filing of loose reports. Distributes and collects charts/records/mail . Performs all other duties as assigned. Ability to work with minimal supervison.

II. Position Requirements: (Minimum qualifications for the position)

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:

B. Education: High School diploma or equivalent

C. Experience: At least one-year experience working with in Health Information Management Department of a major medical facility preferred.

D. Special qualifications: Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period. Excellent organizational, analytical, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to as a team player.. Familiarity with mainframe and personal computers and commonly used software applications. Ability to accurately enter data into the computer system.
