I. BASIC FUNCTION:

Support PCMC's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director Dietary Services, the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional care aspect of the department; department liaison with patients, nurses and physicians; planning, implementing and evaluating Department QA / QI plan; assistance in developing Department policies and procedures; selection, revision and supervision of usage of Nutritional Care Manual; review and evaluation of patient diets; patient instructions, diet consultations and dietary orders; planning and implementing outpatient and community nutrition programs; department in-service programs; participation in nutritional care committees; and direct line supervision of Coordinators' Office.

II. SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care. As a team member, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors and other employees

B. Champion PCMC's mission, vision and values; comply with the policies and procedures, ethical standards and code of conduct set forth by the company.

C. Instructs and trains new Food Service Coordinators in all aspects of their nutritional service responsibilities.

D. Provides liaison between Department and patients and Medical Staff with patient care as a priority.

E. Develops departmental policies and procedures in relation to nutritional services in conjunction with the Administrative Dietitian.

F. Is responsible for selection, revision and usage of the Patient Care Manual with the best interest of the patients in mind.

G. Assists in the development of patient menus in a cost efficient manner taking into account requirements of established standards and desires of the patients.

H. In collaboration with the physician may write specialized diet orders

I. Consistently acknowledges all patient diets and gives patient instructions and patient consultations to care and educate the patients to meet the required standards.

J. Conducts diet instructions and diet consultations within a reasonable time.

K. Consistently develop and conducts outpatient and community nutrition programs.

L. Ensuring that all nutrition services work is completed in timely fashion by Food Service coordinators.

M. Demonstrates a complete understanding of all policies and procedures concerning the Clinical Dietitian position and related responsibilities.

N. Plans for continuing consultation for discharged patients and development and implementation of outpatient and community nutrition programs.

O. Consults with Director of Food Services in matters of uncertainty.

P. Assists with training, education and orientation of employees

Q. Participates in quality improvement programs as appropriate
