Job Overview:

Develop Models and other Statistical tools to drive improvements in promotional effectiveness of target marketing programs. Provide analysis to inform and support marketing strategy.

Essential Functions:

Drive Sales and ROI of Marketing Campaigns with Advanced Statistical Methods (40%)

  • Analyze Customer data from promotional events for the purpose of identifying opportunities to improve profitability through modeling
  • Design and build models for various business needs using statistically appropriate modeling technologies (logistic, OLS, Neural Net, etc.)
  • Utilize statistical, database, programming, and modeling skills to support problem solving throughout Corporate Marketing and the retail divisions
  • Apply multivariate statistical techniques (cluster, factor, principal component analysis) to describe customer attributes

Maintain statistical expertise that is in the forefront of the direct marketing and retail industries

  • Good understanding of experimental design

Develop Customer Shopping Information through Database Analysis (40%)

  • Serve as marketing's subject matter expert of customer behavior through analysis of shopping transactions, demographics, contact history, product metadata, and market area data
  • Produce data driven analysis to support marketing strategy
  • Organize and clearly communicate key insights resulting from complex analytical projects

Production Reporting and Data Support (20%)

  • Work with Statistical Modeling Team in the running of production reports and model scoring
  • Contribute to the further development and maintenance of modeling data environment

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (Masters or higher) in statistics or related field in which multivariate statistics plays an important role (psychology, sociology, economics etc.) 2-5 years model building experience
  • 2-3 years work experience in apparel retail (Merchandise Marketing, Buying, Planning), management consulting (Strategy & operations), statistical analysis, marketing research, and experimental design
  • Base SAS programming, including macros, SAS Enterprise Miner, JMP. R experience a plus
  • SQL programming (especially Oracle)
  • Computer skills (intermediate level) including: Microsoft Office including Access
  • Significant experience using a relational database in a business environment
  • Understanding of demographic and geographic concepts
  • Good analytical skills including the ability to synthesize data, interpret results, draw conclusions, and present actionable business plans
  • Ability to partner with statisticians and data base analysts and build on their experience
  • Attention to detail and commitment to absolute accuracy and delivery of high quality work
  • Strong active listening and interviewing skills; thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to engage with and present to senior leadership
