Job Summary
Function Communications Manager for Services Advocate for Function audience who Identifies, develops, and drives organizational communications and editorial agenda in the function, in conjunction with business and comms leadership.
Develops and drives overall Function plan based on business priorities
Lead for communications strategy in support of key organizational efforts, including announcements and initiatives
Bring to life the Internal Communications team vision: To help employees embody Ciscos culture, are engaged in purposeful dialogue, and motivated by a clear connection between their jobs and the companys strategic priorities and goal of being the #1 IT Company

Produce communications to, from and among employees to help them make Ciscos vision a reality

Primary Responsibilities
Tasks associated with this role Lead for Function communications planning and coordination, driving internal communications plan for the function in partnership with business and comms stakeholders
Understands and supports regional needs/connections for driving communications within a Function, working in partnership with Global team
Connect/Develop and execute a XX communications strategy and plan representing all audiences: Executives, Leadership (Directors/Managers) and Individual Contributors considering global, function and region communication needs
Manages comms to support organizational changes and initiatives deemed Tier 1 with impact to the broad organization, working in partnership with business and comms stakeholders
Review, edit, approve and distribute internal communications for organization or initiatives in function
Provide internal communications consultation within a given function. Ex. Point of contact for communications requests, and counsels on the right outcome for the business vs. facilitation of request
Responsible for editorial content within, and about a Functionex. a story that appears on CEC about a Functional initiative or win
Supports key Company Internal Comms efforts for Function, ex. CPC, SLX, Company meeting
Expert who advises on and manages primary channels, and develops processes for effective efficient, and measurable (future-state) communications delivery
Show the people behind the business stories
Responsible for updates to cross-function, cross-region communications calendar (and AT editorial tool)
Co-ordinate editorial scheduling and channels execution, At Task workflow, create communication metrics and reporting in line with Internal Comms requirements
Maintain and shape editorial calendar for the function, based on business priorities
Manage approved function-specific communications channels, Ex. Mailers and Barons
Review/consult on Function program communications requests, based on priority of business
Understand the dynamics of social media outlets, and create social media activities when appropriate to build an engaged community of followers across the company. Support strong content development and sharing opportunities. (In alignment with the IC social media strategy.)

Deconstruct desired outcomes to find potential focus areas for communications. Prioritize plans/projects and draw principled boundaries about what one will and will not do.Core Writing / Message Simplification
Communication Sourcing and Creation: Identify and help others identify opportunities to create a story around a given message. Create and source content, in PowerPoint or other formats, that is engaging and compelling. Enable dialogue and facilitate peer-to-peer interactions in communication strategy where appropriate. Channel Management: Solid understanding of channel benefits and options, including WxS and emerging media. Select the most beneficial channel mix depending on audience and desired business outcome. Proficiency in different social media platforms and strategies.
Program Management: Manage project(s) with moderate to high risk. Solution requires collaboration across cross-functional teams. There are multiple inter-dependencies. Requires management of project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, and change communications.
Business Function Expertise: Understand the vision, strategy, priorities and culture of their current business function.
Core Writing / Message Simplification: Tailor writing style and content based on the target audience and desired reaction in alignment with IC & brand guidelines. Ensure all content created is proofed.
Prior Experience Needed Internal/external communications in varied disciplines, such as organizational communication, executive communication, and public relations
Knowledge Helpful to the Role Strong understanding of Ciscos strategy
Ability to navigate Ciscos matrixed organizational structure within the business
General understanding that different stakeholders have various needs
Experience working on high profile initiatives that require confidentiality and discretion
