We are seeking world-class talent looking to build a career with one of the world's largest home improvement retailers, operating more than 2,200 store locations in the U.S, Canada and Mexico. Specifically, your role falls within the Point of Sale (POS) area of IT, encompassing applications and processes that support how The Home Depot interacts with our customers and Front-end store associates. You will work with business partners to provide solutions to accomplish our strategic goals.

The purpose of this position is to provide effective management of midsize to large ($500K to 2M) IT projects. This is accomplished by applying a standard, defined Agile methodology to the project, and providing the leadership skills necessary to control the execution of the project tasks, as defined in the methodology. The Scrum Master is responsible for delivering several key project artifacts, and shares responsibility and accountability with the project leadership team for the successful delivery of the entire project. The Scrum Master must also actively manage to the project budget from a dollar spend and a resource perspective.

- Guiding the team on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values.
- Must understand the basic fundamentals of iterative development.
- Must understand other methodologies and can speak about them and leverage those techniques to provide value to the team.
- Guiding the team on self-organizing.
- Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
- Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without blame, or judgment, with an emphasis on problem solving.
- Facilitating getting the work done without assigning or dictating the work.
- Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
- Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
- Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-

-The ideal candidate will have experience working as the Scrum Master for 1-2 teams consisting of 5-10 members each
- First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
- PMI certification a plus
- Experience in the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Experience at backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, retrospective formats, and handling bugs
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Ability to manage project scope and user expectations effectively
- Experienced at (1) managing a budget & feature roadmap. (2) Working with the team to determine estimates to deliver the Product Owners' highest valued deliverables. (3) Experienced at tracking against those estimates from sprint to sprint to ensure adjustments are made as frequently as needed - ensuring on-going transparency in real time, throughout the life of the Product.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Project Control. Develops an effective plan for controlling the project scope, resources and schedule, and monitors the project execution to ensure that the plan is being followed. Creates and effectively coordinates documentation to explain changes to the baseline, and ensures the approved changes are implemented. Maintains logs of all submitted changes and their status. Must be able to manager matrix resources and perform resource leveling when necessary.
Project Communications. Develops an effective plan for communicating project information to the project team and to the project stakeholders. Develops written status reports, determines project status codes, and creates and presents project review documents to senior management. Collects and documents project issues, and manages their timely resolution.
Project Risk Management. Leads the definition of project risks, and the required mitigation approaches. Monitors project activities for the occurrence of risks, and takes timely action to mitigate the risk. Advises project team members and stakeholders of actions required or completed.

Project Lessons Learned. At the completion of a project, captures lessons learned, and communicates those to other project managers. Effectively applies lessons learned in subsequent projects.

Project Environment. Shares responsibility with the project leadership team for providing a good working environment. Ensures teams are staffed, duties and responsibilities are understood by everyone, and that an inclusive environment is maintained.

No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.



ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
-

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Essential Skills:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 5

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
