Mechanical Engineer - Full-time / Part-time

Aerotek is partnering with a nationwide firm in the Western Suburbs of IL in seeking a Mechanical Engineer experienced in the design of HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) and plumbing systems for a wide range of building projects including retail, commercial, education, health care, multifamily residential and industrial projects. This is a great opportunity for someone on a leadership track as the client sees this person moving into a higher role in the near future. Responsibilities include:

- Doing calculations to determine heating and cooling loads and the energy requirements for a building.
- Working with a vendors that sell mechanical HVAC equipment. Discussing options, limitations, and how their product will work in the project.
- Reviewing project drawings (if it's an existing building), and creating new construction documents in AutoCAD 2015 and Revit 2015.
- The day also involves internal meetings, communication and phone calls where the engineers and architects talk about projects and current assignments. There's a lot of communication happening and a lot of meetings.
- Majority of the work day will consist of sitting at a computer running simulations of energy performance and load calculations to predict how much energy will be required to keep a building at a stable temperature or humidity. Also uses the computer to predict the temperature and pressure inside pipes and ducts.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering

- 3-10 years of experience of HVAC and Mechanical Design

- Proficient in AutoCAD

- Exposure to Revit preferred

- Hands-on experience with Trane Trace or Carrier HAP
