Position Purpose:

This position will manage all aspects of new Warehouse Management System (WMS), and all Warehouse systems for the Operations group in the DCs. Primary purpose is to ensure consistency is maintained throughout the network and to be SME from Logistics Department. Will support ongoing WMS rollout plan of Design, Build, Test, Train and Go-live for entire network. Will Collaborate with I.T. team, DC Operations, and WMS vendor. This position requires significant enagement and interaction with internal and external partners.

Essential Job Functions:
Through previous background and experience, the candidate must demonstrate, with or without an accommodation, the ability to:

  • Responsible for the maintenance and support of all Warehouse systems required for Distribution Center (DC) operations including WMOS, LM and Slot Optimization as well as all interactive elements (Vocollect, PTL, RF, MHE, etc).
  • Required to effectively manage and communicate systemic change to enhance the productivity, efficiency and budgetary demands of our Distribution network, accomplished through functionality research, testing, implementation and documentation, while not causing any disruption to DC operations or Store Service.
  • Position is expected to understand DC operating procedures and policies to enable them to explore, test and recommend continuous improvement opportunities to ensure the growth and success of the team.
  • Partners with I.T. Business Partner and support the implementation, development and support of all information technology applications utilized within the Distribution Center network. These systems include WMOS, LM, Slotting, PTL, Vocollect, RF, as the primary systems, as well as any other systemic application used or explored for use to increase productivity, efficiency, accuracy or provide better Store service.
  • Support plans, directs and coordinates multiple project teams to ensure departmental objectives are met to ensure the continued growth of Petco Logistics. These projects primarily result in exploration and recommendation of new technology and system enhancement initiatives to drive improvement throughout the Supply Chain organization, specifically the Distribution Centers.
  • SME for all aspects of WMS – ensure consistency of configuration throughout DC network.
  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all WMS Project team members, DC Staff, I.T. staff, and WMS vendor.
  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
  • Support development and assist in leadership of Subject Matter Expertise (SME) individuals for all areas relating to new WMS Project and roll out.
  • Accommodate extensive travel schedule.


Supervisory Responsibility:
The nature of this position entails supervising one or more work units in the Distribution Center, to include ongoing training and assignment delegation. The Distribution Center Supervisor is also responsible for providing primary input toward the performance evaluations of the Distribution Center Associates as well as hiring, disciplining and terminating employees.

Work Environment:
While some job duties are performed while seated indoors, the majority of the time is spent in the Distribution Center, where exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, fumes and noise should not be overlooked. As the Distribution Center Supervisor may also be required on occasion to work in the warehouse, there may be risk of injury resulting from improper procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Experience:
The minimum educational background of an applicant to this position is a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED). A Bachelors degree is preferred. In addition, a qualified applicant will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of basic Distribution Center management principles, including scheduling, accounting relationships and inventory control policies.
