Overview:
Community Mentors provide ongoing support to youth and their families. Mentors are assigned to a mentee,providingcommunity support, such as, encouragement and pro-social lifestyle development opportunities. They act as a resource and confidant to youth when personal and education problems occur and may coordinate meetings withstaff and parents, teachers, and other supports. Mentors also provide transportation for mentees to and from mentoring activities, as needed. This position requires 75% travel.
The goal for mentors is to support youth in community based activities, promote social/recreational involvement and provide positive influence.
Compensation: Starting pay $9.00/hour
Qualifications:
* Eager to make a difference in youths lives.
* knowledgeable of community resources and understand the culture of the youth and families being served.
* Self-starter, detail-oriented, excellent follow-up and organization skills, report writing and presentation skills.
* Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred (not required)
Certifications/Requirements:
CPR/First Aid (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
Personal transportation
All mentors undergo a thorough screening, extensive reference and criminal background checks. Upon successful recruitment, each mentor receives eight hours of orientation training.
