3M is seeking Machine Operators for the Automotive Aftermarket Division located in Atlanta, GA. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of the Machine Operator will work with maintenance and engineering to operate, changeover, & troubleshoot equipment to meet productivity, safety, quality, and cost goals.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Ability to operate all Operator I, II, & III designated packaging equipment

- Executes Lean initiatives for the packaging department and participates in LSS continuous improvement projects

- The operator will be responsible for training other operator & general labor positions to meet department goals

- Capable of directing a crew to meet the production and process goals for the production line

- Performs adjustments, setups, troubleshooting & changeovers for manufacturing equipment in the packaging area to produce material within limits specified in the manufacturing standards or customer requests

- Responsible for operating various equipment ( i.e. fillers, conveyors, date coders, labelers, level probes, labelers & pumps) to meet production demand

- Conducts process testing including documentation of SPC and other critical parameters

- Makes routine tests, observes, charts, and determines when process is complete

- Moves controls to regulate feed of product through equipment to meet production & process demands

- Perform line audits to support accurate inventory controls

- Interprets instruments and recordings making required adjustments to products

- Accurately maintains shift production and equipment status through process documentation systems

- Reads & accurately interprets plant specifications for processes & products

- Inspects work area for hazards and reports deficiencies to plant leadership for immediate correction

- Inserts parts into partial assembly, during various stages of assembly to complete product

- Counts finished product to determine completion of production order

Must meet or exceed all established housekeeping and safety standards

- Must have the ability to move hand(s), hand together with arm, and/or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects

- On occasion, Machine Operators may be required to wear respirators; the employee must complete an OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire so a Physician and/or Licensed Health Care Professional can determine the employee's ability to wear a respirator

- Must follow all hazardous waste handling procedures

- Performs other related duties as required or assigned

This position will require:

- Working overtime

- Weekend work

- Working on holidays as needed

- Working a 2nd or 3rd shift depending on shift availability

Basic Qualifications:

- Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

- Effective forklift skills

- Preferably have a forklift operator's certificate

- Strong mathematical skills

- Capable of working in heavy lifting environment and should have good experience in safely lifting (heavy lifting required)
