Supervises and coordinates activities of employees in a specific service function.   Performs reporting, performance appraisals and makes recommendations to superiors regarding hiring, terminations, training and discipline.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent and at least two plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in electronics and quality assurance/quality control desireable.

 

SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance/procedure instructions.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Follows established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

This position works in an office and manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:  

  • Directs employees to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies
  • Reviews productivity of employees on a daily basis for accuracy and compliance with established procedures, and determines workload for team members
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
  • Act as first level escalation for any issues identified by Quality Inspectors
  • Traces history of unresolved issues to determine reasons for errors or needed corrections and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement; collaborate with business partners to determine how to document and implement process changes
  • Other responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Advises employees on daily work productivity levels and conducts weekly meeting with team members
  • Responsible for assuring that quality equipment and tools are maintained and calibrated
  • Prepares written reports and provide status for management as required and will issue and manage corrective actions (CARS) againist identified problems
  • May be required to visit supplier facilities and sister companies both nationally and internationally.
  • Responsible for designated QA inventories
  • Has working knowledge of the ANSI sampling procedures and tables for inspection by attributes.
  • Capable of performing all job duties of direct reports at a high level of proficiency
  • Performs all special assignments and complex level projects assigned by manager
