POSITION PURPOSE
-
Reporting to the Director of our Enterprise Analytical Ecosystem, the Sr. Analytical Solutions Architect (ASA) plays a pivotal role in the architecture, delivery and support of enterprise solutions delivered through our Business Analytics Competency Center (BACC).

This position requires broad and deep technical knowledge with products and practices which support Enterprise Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics solutions.  This role has responsibility for defining and leveraging architecture patterns which are simple, interoperable, supportable and extensible. 

As a part of daily program activities, this role will be responsible for applying principles and best practices to the definition, delivery, and support of best-in-class analytical solutions.  And, regularly functioning as the technical leader in program and project delivery efforts.  Additional responsibilities include the delivery of artifacts such as Solution Architecture Design diagrams, Data Flow Diagrams, High-Availability Architectures, Disaster Recovery Plans, Data Privacy/Security Architectures, and Backup/Archive/Restore Architectures.  This person should be able to share and effectively communicate ideas clearly and concisely (verbally and in writing) to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in a manner which is easily understood by the audience.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
-
Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements across an IT portfolio that are cost effective and sustainable. Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications.

Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.

Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery.

Establish and implement technology migration strategies and provide technical oversight across an IT portfolio.

Drive implementation and use of technology governance processes.

Select, develop, and motivate assigned staff.

NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports Director, Enterprise Architect, or Vice President

Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area.
Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 10

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
- BS or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or business related fields
- 15+ years of total IT experience
- 10+ years as Solution Architect for Enterprise Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and/or Advanced Analytical solutions
- Experience leading projects through SDLC
- Experience performing multiple roles in the SDLC
- Ability to validate business use cases for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to read and interpret Logical Data Models, Data Flow Diagrams, Project Schedules
- Demonstrated experience in successful design and delivery of Enterprise solutions
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding of Analytical products
- Significant experience with three or more of the following technologies:
o Ab Initio, Talend, Sqoop, Teradata, Hadoop, Hive, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Cassandra, Spark, MicroStrategy, Tableau, SSAS, SAS, R, Python
- Excellent leadership, teambuilding, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills


- Related technical certifications
- Industry experience in Retail, Wholesale, and/or Supply Chain
- Project Management experience
- Consulting experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Expert technical proficiency in one or more of the following: Retail applications, Windows platform, UNIX platforms, MVS COBOL, JAVA, J2EE, Relational Databases, Websphere Application Server, Websphere Commerce, Websphere MQ, Networking (Voice, LAN, WAN), SAP, Siebel, Peoplesoft.

Comprehensive understanding of systems, applications, and/or networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop and maintain.

Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.

Advanced oral and written communications skills.
