Cost Basis Service Associate - Wealth Management Operations

Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.

Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. We apply our expertise in serving institutional clients to create new opportunities for people to achieve their personal financial goals. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest retail brokerage networks, with numerous worldwide representatives and retail locations. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities.

The Gain & Loss department maintains basis records and provides Gain/Loss reporting for assets held in Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) customer accounts. The Cost Basis Service Representative supports MSWM branches with cost basis and tax related inquiries. The position requires employees to answer questions on a wide range of basis-related topics as well as make adjustments to client records as requested by MSWM branch representatives

- Validating and processing branch inquires via Service Portal, email, fax, and telephone

- Answering daily Gain & Loss inquiries in a timely, professional manner

- Assisting Financial Advisors, Sales Assistants, and other branch personnel with Gain & Loss 3D Information, Gain & Loss reports on 3D and MSOnline, and other Gain & Loss self-service tools

- Recognize and submit system related issues and suggestions for improvement

- Participate in monthly statement review process

- Escalate FA concerns and suggestions to management

- Interact and consult with Marketing, IT, and other internal and external sources in regards to changes that result in process improvement

- Prepare written reports as required

- Seek out areas for process and efficiency improvement

- Various administrative duties and special projects as delegated by your Manager.

- Keep updated/detailed records of daily stats for analysis.

- Provide Superior Customer Service at all levels
