The Manager of Hotel Accounting will review, evaluate, streamline and train processes for the entire department and centralized hotels. The Team Member will onboard hotels into the centralized hotel accounting environment, as well as handle special projects such as hotel sales and debt refinancing.

What will I be doing?


The Manager of Hotel Accounting will direct and supervise all financial aspects of approximately five to seven (5-7) assigned company managed properties. These duties will include management and supervision of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, working with internal and external auditors, asset management, operational review and analysis, internal controls review and monitoring, owner contact, work-paper reviews, and staff training and supervision.


 


Other key priorities are listed below:

  • Manage one to three (1-3) direct reports

  • Evaluate and streamline business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department

  • Review reports such as Accounts Receivable, Credit Card Recons, Performance Tests, etc., on behalf of the department

  • Identify risk areas and take action to research, train and/or resolve issues as needed

  • Potential formats may be webinars, written documentation, departmental training, hotel visits and/or follow up, and with a target audience being Hotel Accounting staff and accounting staff at centralized hotels

  • Perform a detailed review of the properties' financial statements and the accompanying work-papers

  • As a result of the review, provide feedback, recommendations, and issues to the Analysts for resolution and follow up

  • Daily support, coaching, training, hiring and annual evaluations of staff

  • Primary resource and key reviewer for direct repports as it pertains to the fulfilment of the staff's responsibilities

  • Onboard hotels that transition into centralized accounting management, this will include setting up all systems and processes to stabilize the hotel before the hotels are permanently assigned to an Analyst and Accounting Manager

  • Full understanding of the hotel property management system and Hotel Accounting will be required

  • Participate in special projects such as Hotel sales, debt refinancing, third party services (utilities and liquor purchases), departmental trainings, USALI changes, consistencies, streamlining and efficiencies

  • Strong working knowledge of the financial impact of all contracts for assigned hotels so that the Team Member will be conversant enough to assist other staff members and senior management in understanding the implications of different courses of action

  • Ensure that the financial results are reported accurately in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and with Hilton Worldwide accounting policies

  • Involved in assessing more complex transactions and determining how to most appropriately report these transactions

  • From time to time,  the Manager of Hotel Accounting will be required to function as an Analyst or Hotel Accounting Manager, which may also entail month end close at the hotel level on an as needed basis

  • Implement and manage departmental processes and procedures to ensure strategies and directives of department are carried out and in accordance with department and company objectives and controls

  • Manage the department's controls and annual review by internal audit and the SOX audit

  • Coordinate the annual SOC1 audit for the hotels

  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree

  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • A minimum of five (5) years of applicable Accounting experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience using advanced Microsoft Excel functions, such as macros, look-ups, pivot tables or auditing formulas

  • A minimum of two (2) years of hotel level accounting experience as an Assistant Director of Finance, Accounting Manager or Controller

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a supervisory role

  • Hotel level Accounting experience

  • Ability to travel 40% of the time

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • MA/MS Master's Degree

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of Supervisory experience

  • MBA or CPA

  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials, nVision and Essbase

  • Hotel OnQ experience
