About this job
Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Service Director and/or the Nutrition Services Supervisor, the Food Service worker prepares cold and hot foods, serves and portions food for hospital patients, employees, doctors, and guests, and performs other related duties such as general cleaning and sanitizing. Prepares cafeteria counter attractively and orderly, serves cafeteria customers politely and efficiently, keeps cafeteria neat, replenishes coffee station, and cleans cafeteria well, for each meal as assigned. Handles money according to hospital cash handling policies.
Education - High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Must be able to read, write, make simple mathematical calculations, and follow oral and written instructions.
Experience - Institutional foodservice experience preferred as well as knowledge of modified diets, cashiering, and principles of proper sanitation and food handling.
