Job Summary: Under the supervision of designated unit management and the clinical leadership of a clinical nurse, supports the unit through the provision of patient care, clerical and reception services.

If assigned to sit with a patient: PCA will be responsible for staying at the bedside of the patient, as assigned by the House Supervisor to assure patient safety. Sitters stay with the patient at all times, except for lunch and break. Sitters must always inform the charge nurse when he/she leaves the patient. When the sitter leaves the patient, the sitter is relieved by the unit staff.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Licensure : None required.

Experience : Direct patient care experienced preferred, but not required.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent*

* High school education may be waived in lieu of related experience.

Other :

Must have CPR certification and maintain biannually.

Must have good verbal and written communication skills..

Demonstrates a basic understanding of the role of a patient care assistant and relationship with other nursing team members.

Requires organizational skills and basic knowledge of office operations.

Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention" (CPI) certification required for Emergency and all Psychiatric (Behavioral Health) departments, within 60 days of hire.
