CODER - Health Information Management - (Per Diem - Flexible)

This position is responsible for the coding and abstracting of patient charts. Other duties may include collection of statistics, running reports, filing, answering telephones, and other general office duties. This position reports directly to the Health Information Services Coding Supervisor. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to multitask, to communicate and coordinate effectively with healthcare professionals, medical staff, and Health Information Services customers. Thorough knowledge of ICD9, CPT, and DRG coding principles. Knowledge of use of encoder software, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and disease process. Familiar with OSHPD requirements.

Registered Health Information Administrator/ Registered Health Information Technician/Certified Coding Specialist preferred.

Certification from an AHIMA approved program required. If working towards certification, must have successful certification within 2 years of hire date. Minimum of 1 year acute care coding experience.
