Sodexo Campus Services is seeking a Catering Manger 3 to join our campus dining team at The University of Alabama Birmingham , located in Birmingham , AL! This Catering Manager will report to the Operations Manager and will oversee both on and off campus catering and athletic suites.
The Catering Manager will create elegant and sophisticated catering experiences that exceed culinary and service expectations while enhancing client program objectives. This position is responsible for the organization, set-up and execution of all catering events and will work closely with the Executive Chef.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the organization and execution of all catering events and have demonstrated knowledge in casual and fine dining, and banquet management as well as strong writing, costing, menu development and pricing skills. Experience with directing catering operations, wait staff, banquet catering wait staff, buffet lines and all day break services. Additional skills include experience in high volume activity, employee/staff training, labor management and control systems.
The ideal candidate will have:
A strong catering background that includes high-end event coordination and execution with an understanding of the technical delivery aspect. High volume catering / banquet experience ideally from a University/Campus or Banquet/Conference Center. Strong attention to detail and the ability to provide exceptional catering service - developing creative options to fit our client's needs. Ability to build and mentor a solid catering team who share same level commitment and passion to catering: quality presentation, customer service, professionalism. Ability to multi-task and delegate to coordinate/execute multiple events simultaneously. Strong writing, costing, menu development and pricing skills. Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
