About this job

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides occupational therapy services under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and according to the physician's plan of care.

Essential Functions:

Administers the occupational therapy treatment plan as developed by the Registered Occupational Therapist

Facilitates the patient's ROM, strength coordination, use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications, functional mobility and safety issues related to patient's ADL performance needs under the supervision of the Registered Occupational Therapist.

Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.

Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.

Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediaries and/or other third party payors, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary.

Document patient procedures, organize and analyze data, maintain accurate records.

Communicate relevant patient information to appropriate physicians and caregivers while protecting confidential information to unauthorized persons.

Perform troubleshooting and basic maintenance, cleaning and setup for occupational therapy equipment.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Meets mandatory continuing education requirements of the company/licensing board.

Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency.

Ability to work flexible schedule and travel locally.

Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required.

Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho-social needs.

Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Promote company philosophy and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy with an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy.

Licenses/Certification : Current state license to practice occupational therapy. Proof of current CPR and Hepatitis profile. Current driver's license. Must have reliable transportation and insurance.

Experience: One year experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
