The Department of State Hospitals, Metropolitan State Hospital is currently accepting applications for Permanent/Full-Time, Plumber 1 located at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk. Working Title : MSH-Plumber 1, PO-1507

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The applicant must possess the following qualifications and knowledge: The incumbent Plumber 1 will be engaged in various plumbing duties piping repairs, toilet stoppages, and installation of water main valves. Also maintaining, inspecting and repairing standard plumbing equipment used in water, gas, oil, and sewage. Work with other plumber's and other Building Trades and Maintenance workers engaged in plumbing installation and repair work, and at times lead unskilled assistants. Advise and prepare requisitions for the selection of plumbing materials and supplies. See that safety regulations are followed. Prepares rough working sketches and estimates for needed plumbing installations and repairs. Maintains job records and prepares reports. Be responsible for Maintaining and repairing pump house motors and equipment. Make sure water lines are properly chlorinated after repairs are made prior to them placing them back in service. Make rounds of inspection for irrigation and domestic water systems. Keep simple records, communicate and deal tactfully and effectively with others. Desirable characteristics are punctuality and dependability.
