Primary Responsibilities:

The CNA provides direct patient care services and management of patients as prescribed by the physician and nursing staff. A successful CNA assures patient safety, environmental safety and manages patient behavior. While performing specific duties, the CNA is responsible for providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the supervision of the RN. The CNA must provide appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse volatile situations, correctly prioritizing safety concerns, following proper restraint technique guidelines, and displaying neutral emotions. Documentation must also occur when providing 15-minute rounds. Escorts patients to mealtime, outdoor/indoor recreation and educational activities and participates in their supervision instruction as needed. The MHT assists in the patient discharge process ensuring that patients have all personal belongings and completing required paperwork.

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required .

Certified Nursing Assistant by the State of Texas is required .

Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred.
