Job Description

What is the Growth, Innovation & Digital division of Gap Inc. (GID)?

The GID division of Gap Inc. is responsible for driving new strategies, technologies and innovations that power growth for the entire company. GID also manages a portfolio of the company's up-and-coming brands; Athleta and INTERMIX; and serves as the incubator for the next set of global brands.

In addition to the brands, teams within the division include Customer Engagement Marketing, Product Management, Finance, Strategy and Human Resources. GID is also the home to GapTech, the function driving innovative retail technology and powering e-commerce for all of the company’s brands, while delivering global enterprise technology for Gap Inc. Together, GIDs teams work cross-functionally to support all of Gap Inc.’s brands with world-class digital capabilities and expertise.

This position will interface directly with all levels of the Gap Inc. organization with a primary focus within the Logistics, Order Fulfillment and Analytics domains. The person in this position will be instrumental in delivering new distribution center processing capabilities that become a foundation for our network of the future.

  • Explore opportunities and create solutions for one of the largest apparel companies in the world.
  • Develop business cases, oversee the development of design solutions, and advocate concepts with internal business groups.
  • Utilize your ability to accurately read and analyze data to create exciting solutions for customers and internal business groups.
  • Interface with the GapTech delivery organization over a period of weeks or months to bring technical products to life.
  • Gain input from a variety of internal and external sources to define product concepts; respond to customer needs throughout the development process; analyzes competitors and market trends; evaluate technologies; develops detailed requirements, feature definitions, implementation plans, and internal communications.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams during the entire lifecycle of product development, including deployment and post-deployment activities.
  • Identify areas that require customer research and proposed research activities.
  • Write user stories as part of an Agile project framework that:
  • Directly support primary objectives of the project
  • Are appropriate in size for iterative development
  • Include clear and specific acceptance criteria
  • Anticipate upstream and downstream impacts of the project and works with internal business groups to adjust business tools and practices in order to support new features and functionality.
  • Communicate product solutions and benefits to customers and stakeholders; including knowledge transfer and training for on-going management of features.
  • Develop supporting business case, including financial impact and benefits statements, to support feature/functionality concepts and sell the concepts to internal audiences through persuasive oral and written presentations.
  • Recognition as an expert across Product Management – someone who has excellent judgment and whose projects have contributed significantly to the success of Gap Inc. and can successfully champion new initiatives to Product Management leadership team.


Qualification

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; comfortable presenting to and influencing executive-level management.
  • Ability to work independently with “make it happen” attitude; able to successfully operate in areas of uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to identify the business objectives, develop and implement a business strategy on projects; capable of making reliable business decisions during execution
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various phases of ideation, execution, or delivery.
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in system deployment and process improvement related roles, having contributed to software projects during design and deployment stages
  • Desirable to have domain experience in logistics and distribution center fulfillment
  • Desirable to have prior experience in a multi-channel retail environment preferably apparel, or other customer focused technology products.
  • Some advanced Excel and/or basic SQL skills would help…but not required.
