The Time Warner Cable office currently seeks a Senior OSS Systems Engineer for our Technology and Network Operations Division. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Essential Skills:
Individual should have 7+ years of Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Network Management System (NMS) experience, primarily focused on design, development, implementation, and management of OSS and NMS architecture and related applications.
This role will report to the Senior Manager of OSS Engineering, and will collaborate daily with a variety of Systems and Software Engineers. The position entails the design and administration of the OSS applications used to support the Navisite physical and virtual environments, business applications, and databases.
The individual will be primarily focused on large scale commercial applications such as Splunk, CA Spectrum, and CA Performance Center. Additionally, this individual will be closely involved in definition and configuration of new systems and features, certification of new infrastructure and services, systems and data integration, as well as troubleshooting of systems, network, and collection infrastructure.
The individual would be expected to have strong UNIX experience, understanding of networking and communication protocols such as SNMP/WMI, virtualization exposure such as VMWare/Hyper-V/Xen, and familiarity with SAN and NAS infrastructures. This individual should exhibit both a desire and aptitude to quickly learn new technologies, be able to work both independently and as part of a larger team of analysts, systems engineers, and software engineers.
Required Experience:Minimum two years of experience developing, configuring, and supporting SplunkExperienced in setting up complex Splunk searches and user dashboardsRegular expression experience, parsing, field extractions, and tagging of logsHands on expertise with Network Management Protocols and ToolsMust be able to produce high quality scripts (Perl, Shell, and/or Python)Understanding of the principles of TCP/IPAdministration knowledge with Redhat and other UNIX variantsExperience in NAS and SAN architectures and operabilityStrong problem solving and analytical skills.
