Summary: Under supervision, provides basic nursing care and assists residents with daily living activities, demonstrating the advanced care knowledge attained through successful completion of the CNA Career Ladder training program. Is involved in the selection of new CNA's, their orientation and acts as a mentor. Demonstrates superior customer service skills.

Essential Functions:

* Is involved in the interview process for new CNAs

* Assists with the orientations of new CNAs and acts as a mentor to new CNAs

* Applies advanced care knowledge learned in the program in the exercise of her/his duties

* Demonstrates superior and accurate documentation of ADLs , able to identify ADL documentation issues, and provides appropriate guidance to other CNAs on accurate ADL documentation

* Models superior customer service skills and provides tactful, effective guidance to other employees providing service excellence.

* Fulfills all essential functions of the C.N.A.

o Answers call lights to determine resident needs

o Assists residents with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing and incontinent care

o Obtain food trays and assists residents with feeding

o Assists residents with range of motion exercises and transfers to wheelchair or activity areas

o Assists residents with turning and positioning in bed

* Assists residents with ambulation

* Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, documents intake and output, as directed

* Documentation on flow sheets as directed

* Attends interdisciplinary meetings as needed to provide input into selected resident's plans of care

* Documents restorative services provided following facility policies and procedures

* Reports to Charge Nurse or designee on progress/lack of progess in achieving restorative goals

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Is a graduate of Kindred's CNA II Career Ladder program.

Licenses/Certification:

Valid certification as a CNA in the state of employment.

Experience:

10 months experience in a long-term care environment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to use knowledge attained in C . N.A. Career Ladder Program to enhance customer service, improve resident care, and increase C.N.A. satisfaction.

Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.

Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and facility staff
