POSITION SUMMARY

Performs equipment maintenance, transportation of contaminated equipment, cleaning and processing of equipment and setting up of equipment. In addition, inventories supplies (routine, oxygen, etc), stocks and maintains par levels. Assists in miscellaneous office duties (i.e. answering phones, scheduling tests, patient billing/charging, etc) and assists the Respiratory Care Staff by performing equipment function checks, calibrations and oxygen rounds and may perform EKG's and associated editing as requested.

Principal Accountabilities

Maintains aseptic technique and decontamination procedures when cleaning and processing all contaminated equipment.

Maintains department equipment including replacement parts, maintaining parts supplies and identifying major repairs needed on equipment.

Maintains the department supply, inventory, stocking, ordering and maintaining par levels.

May perform 12-lead EKG.

Performs duties related to oxygen: Tanks, supplies, maintenance and patient oxygen rounds as necessary.

Performs routine department duties and assists in office duties.

Prepares malfunctioning equipment to be sent to Biomedical Engineering.

Provides basic equipment maintenance, function checks and calibration. MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education, including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration:

High School Diploma or GED Unless legally required, recommend: High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Preferred concurrent enrollment in RCP or RN program.

BLS Healthcare Provider

Knowledge:

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the respiratory system.

Knowledge of respiratory therapeutic equipment and supplies.

Experience:

Previous health care experience, such as patient contact and experience with medical equipment is desired.

Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful fast-paced and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.

Must be able to understand, read and write the English language .
