A successful Media Auditor will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University; or one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of contract structure and Pay Television industry terminology preferred
  • Well developed oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts into understandable and easy-to-follow presentation materials; proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, with some knowledge of database basics (e.g. Microsoft Access) helpful
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and to work in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Excellent teamwork skills with ability to establish productive working relationships with other departments; high energy, positive attitude and the desire to learn
  • CIA or CPA designation preferred, prior audit experience preferred

The Media Auditor is responsible for performing internal audits of programmer payments to ensure DISH is in compliance with contractual obligations related to content distribution. This role is also the point person for external audits and plays an essential role as a liaison between the content negotiation team and accounting.   Excellent communication skills are a necessity due to the amount of inter-departmental exposure. Additionally, the right candidate will display the ability to take ownership of the role and work autonomously to continually improve the audit process.

 

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Execute the internal audit process which includes reviewing programming royalty payments for accuracy and ensuring compliance with contractual carriage terms
  • Create detailed written audit reports and conduct monthly meetings with internal stakeholders to review findings
  • Mitigate contractual risk by identifying relevant penetration calculations or contract change points and ensuring proper systems are in place to manage contract requirements
  • Collaborate with Legal and Programming to resolve ambiguous contract language
  • Work with GL Accounting to ensure any liabilities are properly accrued; assist as needed with royalty payment calculations and adjustments; support external audits performed by programmers or their designee; review and summarize external audit claims for senior management
  • Ad-hoc projects to meet business needs
