The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency.

APD customers may be served in their community by funding provided through several waiver programs. Other customers are provided assistance without being enrolled in a waiver program. Some APD customers are served at two Developmental Disability Centers. The Agency helps more than 50,000 Floridians with developmental disabilities each year.

APD provides a variety of medically necessary services to more than 31,000 customers who are currently enrolled in Florida's iBudget Waiver. Those services may include occupational and physical therapy, private nursing, mental health counseling, personal supports, transportation, behavior therapy, residential services, adult dental services, and respite care.

Some people with developmental disabilities prefer to receive services and supports living in a home with other people with similar disabilities. The State of Florida has two centers: Sunland Center in Marianna and Tacachale Center in Gainesville. About 800 people currently live in these facilities. In addition, the Agency serves people found incompetent to go to trial due to their developmental disabilities. These individuals are served at APD centers and at a facility located in Chattahoochee. About 200 people live in these locations.

Annual Leave

Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 4.00 hours bi-weekly, with 5 to 10 years of service earn 5.00 hours bi-weekly and those with over 10 years of service earn 6.00 hours bi-weekly.

Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service employees shall be credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.

Sick Leave

Career Service employees earn 4.00 hours of sick leave bi-weekly.

Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service employees shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.

Holidays The following holidays are observed as paid holidays by State agencies:

Personal Holiday - Full-time (Non-OPS) employees are entitled to one personal holiday each year. Personal holidays are credited to eligible employees on July 1 and must be used by June 30 of each year or it will be forfeited.

Direct Deposit Program - As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in State government is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

Florida State Employee Charitable Campaign- Section 110.181, Florida Statutes, creates the Florida State Employees Charitable Campaign (FSECC), which is the only authorized solicitation of State employees allowed in the workplace during working hours. The FSECC provides an organized and effective method in which employees can donate to the charities of their choice, either through payroll deduction or as a one-time gift.

Employee Tele-Work Program - Under s. 110.171, Florida Statutes, agencies may adopt a Tele-Work Program, whereby selected State employees are allowed to perform their normal duties and responsibilities of their positions through the use of computers and telecommunications, at home or another place apart from the employee's usual place of work.

Tuition Waiver Program- State employees may be eligible to enroll for up to 6 credit hours of tuition free courses per term on a space-available basis at a State university or community college, subject to approval by an employee's agency head or the equivalent.

Mentoring Program- Each employee may be granted up to one hour of administrative leave per week, not to exceed five hours per calendar month, to participate in the Mentoring Initiative including school or community voluntary activities.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:

***DUTIES:

This is an administrative position assisting the Regional Program Supervisor and other staff within the Quality Improvement division. This position also coordinates with other administrative support staff within the region to ensure administrative functions are conducted timely and under specific direction of the supervisors to establish effective collaboration with APD staff and all stakeholders.

Tracks and maintains Licensure and LTRC visits tracking spreadsheets.

Completes the Group Home monitoring compliance spreadsheets and post on the State share drive monthly.

Provides copies of the Medicaid waiver application packet and distributes to potential providers. Maintains a log of individuals receiving application packets and date of receipt.

Coordination of work assignments for clerical support staff including ensuring adequate phone and front desk coverage for the office.

Responds to phone calls and email inquiries within one business day of receipt by routing to appropriate staff person for response. Routes office visitors accordingly.

Maintains the regional group/foster home locator, updates as needed and disseminates to other staff monthly.

Screens, sorts and distributes mail and correspondence for quality improvement staff.

Performs duties related to disaster planning and other duties as assigned.

Assists organizing, and attends, meetings, training, conference call and other activities as needed. Helps with miscellaneous duties as needed including switchboard and the completion of special projects.
