About this job

Providence is calling a Phlebotomist to the Laboratory Department at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK.

Provides efficient, accurate and courteous service for PKIMC patients and residents of the Extended Care Facility.

In this position, you will:

Provide accurate and timely collection and receiving of specimens for all patients in accordance with medical center and laboratory policies and procedures and Federal/State regulations.

Perform bedside testing according to medical center, laboratory and national standards.

Obtain complete documentation for the registration process including signatures and related billing information.

Perform quality control, quality improvement, specimen tracking, and maintenance procedures as required.

Comply with all departmental, facility, and regional safety policies and procedures.

Required qualifications for this position include:

High school diploma or equivalent.

BLS or the ability to obtain certification within ninety (90) days of date of hire required.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Must be available to work various shifts and days.

One (1) year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Completion of a phlebotomy accredited program preferred.

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC's long term care facility, has 22 beds.

PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
