About this job

The certified Pharmacy Technician will 1) fill unit dose orders, 2) fill cassettes, 3) package unit dose medications, 4) interact with other departments both verbally and in writing, 5) manage the hospital floor stock system, 6) perform discrepancy reconciliation, 7) interact with patients, 8) prepare large volume IV's, 9) prepare piggy back IV's, 10) assist in purchasing pharmaceuticals, 11) calculate formulations and 12) participate in hospital wide activities and committees. This position is scheduled to work day and evening shifts, including weekends. The pharmacy technician will be trained and expected to use a variety of computer systems. Minimum Education: Education equivalent of a high school diploma.

Preferred Education: Some college coursework or post high school training.

Preferred Experience: 6 months experience in a hospital, infusion, or long term care pharmacy, or 2 years experience in a retail pharmacy.

Required Certification/Registration: Current registration with the state of Florida.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language. Ability to perform effectively in fast paced, stressful environment.
