REM has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to participate in the Transitions to Community Initiative to develop unique discharge plans to individuals currently at AMRTC or MSH-St. Peter who are unable to be discharged due to individually-specific barriers.


Description

Every person needs various supports of others, but we look for talented and confident people to provide support to the individuals we work with and provide services to. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with REM in Marshall, you’ll be one of those special people.

REM Southwest Services is seeking Direct Support Professionals/Caregivers to provide assistance to individuals in a community-based setting. DSPs provide assistance with daily activities such as meal preparation and planning; medication administration; and assistance with personal cares. DSPs may also facilitate community involvement by accompanying individuals on outings in the community or providing transportation to work, therapy, medical appointments or other activities. In addition, DSPs support therapeutic and behavioral plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and car registration with vehicle insurance
  • Six months of professional experience in working with individuals living with a mental health diagnosis or willingness to learn how to successfully support our customers
  • Willingness to support individuals in an environment that promotes dignity and respect
  • Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks
