Providence is calling a Medical Social Worker to Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, WA.

This is part time, 16 hrs every two weeks

We are seeking a caring individual to join our team and provide social work services to patients and their families when social or emotional problems interfere with obtaining maximum benefits from medical care and when stressers negatively impact their level of emotional functioning.

In this position you will:

Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors. Consider individual needs in communication with patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include all ages. As a Preceptor, provide initial job training and information to the orientees and assesses their ability to fulfill specified responsibilities. Consistently document psychosocial assessments and intervention. Consistently complete reports and statistics on time. Regularly attend and participate in interdisciplinary patient care conferences. Demonstrate ability, in interviewing patients and family members, to obtain information about home environment, family relationships, and health history along with patient's personality traits. Regularly help patients and their families understand, accept and follow medical recommendations and provides service planned to restore patients to optimum social health adjustment within their capacity. Interpret a patient's psychosocial situation to physicians and other staff, and jointly plans with them so that patients receive the highest level of care. Prepare a complete written evaluation for the patient's chart after the initial interview; uses objective data with clear and concise language.

Required qualifications for this position include: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, or related social sciences field, from an accredited college or university. Minimum of one year experience in the health care field.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Master's degree in Social Work.
