This is an INTERNAL advertisement -- Only current DC employees will be interviewed.

This position is located at APALACHEE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION.

Salary will be determined in accordance with current pay procedures.

Successful applicant must pass a background screening and fingerprinting.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Directs and supervises security functions and staff of a facility or an assigned shift, positions conducting administrative reviews of inmate records for placement in appropriate programs while in a correctional facility, and positions providing supervision and monitoring of offenders placed on probation or parole.

Prepares work schedules and duty rosters, assigns duties, recommends changes in operating procedures, and informs staff of changes.

Supervises and coordinates employees in support of corrections activities.

Monitors and evaluates job performance of subordinates.

Recommends discipline for staff who violate department rules and regulations.

Performs training and oversight of subordinates in performing job duties.

Monitors and provides technical assistance to officers in counseling and supervising offenders.

Evaluates risk factors for placement of offenders.

Prepares reports and directs preparation, handling, and maintenance of departmental records.

Trains employees in methods for performing an effective and efficient job.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

This occupation requires certification in accordance with Chapter 943, Florida Statutes, completion of the relevant basic recruit training course and eligibility for, or possession of, a current employment certificate of compliance issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
