POSITION PURPOSE
-

The IT Operations Lead System Specialist role will work with a team of engineers to support all production and non-production servers across the Home Depot enterprise. A strong background in troubleshooting and diagnosing remote systems, combined with the ability to execute and automate day to day operational requests are the keys to success in this position. Coding for systems administration, and automation will be leveraged heavily. Knowledge of Windows Server, related technologies (Clustering/IIS), VMWare, and enterprise backup and storage solutions are essential. The right candidate will be a motivated self-starter, possessing strong leadership skills, and the urge to independently identify and drive improvements. In this roles, the candidate will be expected to mentor others, demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, interact effectively with peers and all levels of leadership.


NATURE AND SCOPE-

Typically reports to an IS Controller.
Direct reports typically include one or more Senior Systems Specialists, Systems Specialists and Associate System Specialists.
Typically requires interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
Procedures for analyzing situations and making conclusions can be very diverse.
Will need to consider among many different options or procedures when solving problems.
Once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.


ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Will need to meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy and/or may be involved in some mildly difficult situations.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.


EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.


YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 5


PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

• A bachelor' s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related field is preferred.
• 5+ years of Windows server administration experience in geographically dispersed, highly complex infrastructures.
• 5+ years experience troubleshooting and resolving unexpected service outages, system maintenance issues, data center adds/moves/changes, and complex system issues.
• 5+ years experience writing SQL, PowerShell, C#, VBScript, or similar language, especially as it relates to systems automation.
• 5+ years experience with design, implementation and management of highly available (HA) system architectures.
• 5+ years with Windows Server (2003/2008/2012) administration and troubleshooting.
• 5+ years experience with Active Directory administration and troubleshooting.
• 3+ years experience with VMWare administration and troubleshooting.
• 3+ years in TSM, NetBackup, Backup Exec, or other enterprise backup solutions.
• 3+ years of experience with enterprise SAN/NAS storage solutions over (Fiber, iSCSI, MPIO).
• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft System Center technologies (SCOM, SCORCH, SCCM), or comparable management systems.
• 3+ years of experience with networking principals, firewalls, load balancers, and a strong knowledge of network protocols including HTTP, DNS, UDP, and TCP.
• 1+ years experience Linux administration (preferably Redhat/CentOS).
