3M is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II for the Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division located Rockland, MA. Ready to be part of what's next?
Job Summary : The Maintenance Mechanic will be performing diverse duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform job in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company safety and quality policies exercising independent judgment while paying close attention to detail
- Communicate with all levels of staff
- Work independently or as a team
- Keep work area clean and orderly maintaining 5S standards
- Accurately report information manually, electronically and/or verbally by answering questions from production staff
- Possess and display a strong knowledge of and trouble shooting skills for the following: mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, AC and DC control circuits and devices, AC and DC motors and drives, solenoids, pumps, switches, motor starters, contactors, gas analyzers, hoists, material handling equipment, and other components of production, facility, and/or material handling equipment.
- Perform preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on production, lifting and facility equipment
- Locate sources of machinery problems by observing, listening, utilizing test equipment, and conversing with operations personnel
- Keep work area clean and orderly maintaining 5S standards
- Accurately report information manually, electronically and/or verbally by answering questions to production staff
This position will require:
- Working overtime
- Weekend work
- Working on holidays as needed
- Working short notice call in/short notice shift coverage
- The possibility of working any shift, depending on shift availability
- Sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, walking, reaching, climbing, crouching, pushing and pulling, gripping, picking and pinching, climbing ladders and elevated platforms, routinely lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors or outdoors in all types of weather
Basic Qualifications:
- Possess a two (2) year technical degree
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess a Journeyman's Certificate or Vocational School training
- Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
- Ability to operate fork trucks, cranes, scissor lifts and other mobile equipment
- Proficient in reading plus interpreting drawings and schematics, the use of measuring and test devices and the use of power and hand tools
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
