About this job

Under general supervision, operates and maintains technically sophisticated mechanical and electrical equipment; provides training to staff in the use of utilities and equipment; performs miscellaneous repair work as assigned; and performs other related work as required.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.

Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.

Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.

Trouble shoots electrical, electronic (including analog and digital), pneumatic, and mechanical equipment and systems.

Performs operator and preventive maintenance, as specified by manufacturers, on equipment and systems including electrical, electronic, pneumatic, mechanical; varies PM interval as dictated by monitored failure rate.

Performs simple, as well as complete repairs of equipment and systems, as appropriate.

Researches, interprets and applies local, as well as manufacturers' technical data; read and interprets engineering drawings and specifications.

Maintains appropriate work records for compliance with requirements imposed by such entities as; State Code of Regulations, Title 22 (CCR T-22), CCR T 24, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Office of State-wide Healthcare Planning and Development, and National Fire Protection Agency

Develops and maintains excellent customer service traits

Coordinates with local utility companies for utility service needs

Provide training to staff in the use of facilities and utilities systems.

Other Duties as assigned

Education: High School Diploma/GED Required.

Certification : Valid Drivers License

Experience: Work requires three years of experience working in a healthcare maintenance capacity

Knowledge of principles and practices of installing, operating, maintaining and repairing hospital equipment and systems

Knowledge of shop, workplace, equipment and tool safety

Understanding of handling hazardous materials encountered in the hospital environment

Knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of various pumps, motors, centrifugal chillers, control valves and switches and to digital and pneumatic control systems

Knowledge of instruments, tools and equipment used in the installation, operation, trouble-shooting, maintenance and repair of complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical building an utility systems.

Equipment Operated: Building and office equipment

Work Environment: Position will work in all areas of office building, including well-lit and dark spaces. Size of space to vary.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves varied activities including standing, sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching. Requires full range of body motion including: handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use correct body mechanics to assist patients appropriately. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to push or pull mobile equipment on casters up to 500 pounds.
