WORK SHIFT: MONDAY -- FRIDAY, 0720 - 1520

LOCATION: CALIFORNIA MEN'S COLONY, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR, HIGHWAY 1, SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA 93409

*DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Prison Industries Manager (General), this position is responsible for the maintenance and repair activities associated with the various industries within the California Men's Colony.

REQUISITE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Manages and directs staff and inmate work crews in the preventative maintenance and repair of all industrial systems, equipment, and facilities to ensure the successful on-going operation of each industry, plans and schedules necessary labor and equipment and prioritizes work assignments.

* Establishes and maintains a central repair station and ensures that necessary tools, materials, parts and supplies are ordered, stored, and kept in optimum working order, keeps operation, services, and repair manuals updated and in good order, practices good housekeeping and control of all tools, equipment and materials under all areas of his/her supervision.

* Assists in the institution's budget preparation, maintains records and prepares reports on maintenance and repair, oversees the implementation of the Inmate Employability Program within an enterprise, plans and coordinates responsibilities and evaluates results to ensure program goals are met.
