The National Director of Clinical Program is a strategic role within Optum Care Delivery (CD), where you will lead large complex initiatives in areas of clinical affordability, quality, clinical program implementation, innovation, and growth.  This position will work with care delivery leaders in conjunction with Optum leaders to build large, scalable, and sustainable programs developed to drive clinical affordability.  You will determine strategic direction of programs and projects, manage executive relationships and drive results in a highly matrixes environment by regional and local markets. Primary Responsibilities:

Assists VP of Clinical Program & Performance to build and manage a suite of standardized, scalable clinical programs to support clinical effectiveness, affordability and growth as the core of the national clinical team portfolio
Manages deployment of  large-scale, business priority clinical programs with significant quality and  financial impact to ensure excellence in execution in the priority markets
Manages and mentors a regionalized team consisting of shared services Project Managers, Process Consultants, and Business Analysts with varying responsibilities throughout the organization to build workforce capacity to achieve performance results locally
Establishes and promotes industry-recognized, best-in-class clinical programs and management standards; evaluates and recommends program management tools and resources; and drives a program to ensure continued utilization and maturation of best practices
Participates with executive leadership to establish strategic plans and objectives
Understands strategic priorities and implement effective solutions that support business priorities; think strategically and deliver tactically
Build and manage relationships with regional and local Leadership, while creating a collaborative and innovative environment.
Build and manage enterprise level processes and deliverables
Creates large scale, standardized reporting and tracking capabilities for monitoring program performance
Takes lead on developing person-centered clinical programs leveraging innovative technology innovations and solutions in the local markets to improve population health outcomes that impact affordability and efficiency
Manages relationships with vendors both within UHG and external

Requirements

Required Qualifications: 

Master's Degree in Business/Health Care Administration or  other advanced clinical degree
Minimum 10+ years of managed care and clinical program development and management experience
Experience working with, and leading remote teams
Ability to build high functioning teams which may not be under your direct supervision
Ability to quickly build relationships and trust with local and national leaders
Ability to learn new concepts and business models very quickly
Ability to think and perform at a high level in a highly changing business environment
Ability to think strategically and nationally, while keeping finger on the pulse of the Local Market needs
Strong interpersonal, leadership, negotiation and presentation skills for interacting with internal and external clients
Demonstrated experience in leading a high performing interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of an organization
Ability to negotiate internally with functional area leadership in order to maintain critical deliverables commitments made to clients
Strong management skills to select, develop, mentor, discipline and reward employees
Good financial acumen; ability to understand P&L's and financial planning models
Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to effectively interact, collaborate with, and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Project, and Visio as well as project management tools
Highly motivated, self-starting and willing to go the extra mile to ensure that projects are effectively managed, delivered on-time and within budget
