Aerotek is searching for a Purchasing Agent with our client in the Columbus, IN area.
Candidates will be responsible for managing current vendors / suppliers which includes negotiating rates, handling any discrepancies with vendors or invoicing errors, shipping errors, etc. Candidates will also search for new suppliers / vendors for any new product launches that take place and be responsible for bringing these new suppliers online with a focus on cost, quality, and reliability. Candidates will need to try to achieve the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost by identifying the supplier/product and negotiating win-win deals.
Candidates can expect to be purchasing supplies such as raw steel, resin, steel coils, stampings, injection molding, wire harness, wire form parts, and sub-assemblies typically related to the automotive industry.
This position will be high volume, low cost purchasing.
Candidates will be expected to develop good relations with suppliers which means having a customer service mindset, remaining impartial and objective when dealing with suppliers. Candidates will work with 15 - 20 key suppliers to start which may expand in the future.
Qualified candidates will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in purchasing
- Automotive manufacturing is highly desired, but will consider other industrial manufacturing experience.
- Candidates with Direct and Indirect purchasing experience are encouraged to apply.
