About this job

I. Objective:
Drive the improvement of the overall site equipment reliability and improve the maintenance department effectiveness. Interface with 3rd party vendors and cross-functionally with colleagues, to identify root cause for equipment failures and develop permanent solutions to maximize equipment uptime reducing costs where feasible.


II. Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive maintenance process improvement to improve department efficiency and cost effectiveness through continuous improvement mindset.
Perform root cause failure analysis on equipment causing downtime, product rate loss, process quality problems and repeat/rework failures.
Work closely with all maintenance staff (both office and mechanic) to ensure root cause failure actions and the reliability improvement plan are executed including managing small to medium capital improvement projects.
Provide input to supervisors and planner regarding quality of data necessary for proper reporting
Designated site PM administrator. Prepares weekly schedule of PMs required to maintain PM compliance and maintains/reviews quality of PM system utilizing inputs such as equipment criticality and failure data.
Carries out FSSC/ISO quality audits and ensures compliance against the standards and in maintenance documentation. Ensures FSSC/GMP work orders have prompt and effective closure.
Serves as a contractor coordinator for select contractors responsible for safety, work quality, and costs.
Ensures that safety related items receive the highest priority. This includes planned maintenance on safety equipment, pressure relief devices etc.
Contributes to the department safety culture. Completes JSAs, makes recommendations to improve areas as appropriate, and completes audits on a regular basis.
In conjunction with the planner & Maintenance Supervisor, identifies and eliminates repetitive work and other maintenance problems.
Coordinate communication efforts between production and maintenance staff to identify and elimination problems.
Serve as backup to other roles in the department due to absence


III. Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A minimum of five (5) years industrial experience, preferably in a continuous process plant.
Must possess strong knowledge in preventative & predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and total predictive maintenance.
Knowledge of all typical industrial maintenance areas (electrical, instrumentation, piping, pumps, etc.) is required.
Capital project management for small to medium maintenance base projects is also required.
Experience in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and the analysis of their data.
