OVERVIEW:
Working as Full-Time IT Systems Administrator - Linux, you will be responsible for the Linux Server operating system and additional server components within the IT infrastructure. You will work to enhance the Linux Server infrastructure within the data center and serve as a technical Linux server operating system resource for our technical support and software development teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Monitoring and maintaining Red Hat Linux Server operating system.
o Applying patches to major subsystems and services, roles, and file-system components within a Red Hat Linux system environment and performing operating system and patch testing on all changes prior to installation.
o Monitoring and reviewing system logs and detecting and troubleshooting problems.
Writing basic technical operating system documentation.
o Controlling system access and security aspects of critical systems.
o Working to provide 24x7 support on critical systems.
o Demonstrating work adherence to security best practices and access control and security policies.
o Establishing and maintaining automated patching for all systems.
o Partnering with Fastenal HelpDesk, and Technical Support teams as an escalated resource point.
o Demonstrating day-to-day adherence with change control concepts and practices.
o Providing technical support and customer service directly to end-users through ticketing system and periodically through screen sharing.
o Working efficiently with guidance from Lead Administrator/IT Manager/IT Director in overall goals for the Infrastructure.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o Possess or are working towards a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field OR have 2+ years of Linux or Unix Systems Administration experience
o Excellent communication skills
o Ability to pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY).
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Experience in troubleshooting technical problems involving software and operating systems.
o Possess effective collaboration skills in a team environment.
o Familiarity with networking topology concepts.
o Administrative Scripting with Shell / Perl.
o Experience managing storage with LVM and Fibre Channel SANs
o Experience managing Linux guests within a virtualized environment.
o Experience with configuration management tools such as Red Hat Satellite, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.
o Experience managing middleware applications that run within a Linux environment.
